So where do I start on things to do? Even though the weather made punting off limits, it was still fun to take in the ambience of the city and wander around the deserted colleges (insert the appropriate Harry Potter observation here). Let’s call it the Oxford effect, making most unassuming bookshop or street seem on a much grander scale than anywhere I’ve seen in London. Scriptum was a stationery shop after my own heart with shelves full of quaint notebooks, bits for the lost art of letter writing and globes to give any room a touch of nostalgia. At odds with all the tradition and history is Atomic Burger, a popular comic-book themed eatery with a menu full of puns and Barbie wallpaper in the bathroom. It took a good twenty minutes to try and work out what to go for, most likely because I was distracted by the 80s music videos playing on a loop, but fortunately the Bandit burger was a good choice.
Bath, Cambridge and Rye are next on the must-visit list, feel free to give me a prod in the comments if I keep putting off exploring the UK!
