More Than Just A Stopover
So you may have noticed via Instagram, that I was just casually in Singapore last week. I know, right? I’m pretty ashamed to say that I didn’t know much about the country before this trip. I’d always get very vague impressions from other people insinuating that it’s only worth spending a few days here, but in reality, it’s a city! You could quite happily just go about your daily business (i.e eating as much as possible, but more on that later), whilst enjoying the sun and popping to the odd event that’s going on.
Beach holidays are great in small doses, but I love to get a real sense of a key destination over a good few days and gain a richer cultural experience. I’ve been singing its praises to anyone who’ll listen all week (my housemate was the target for my musings today), whilst missing the amazing food, efficiency and forward-thinking attitudes of this (supposedly) happily multicultural society.
Where I Stayed
The best thing about my room was probably the smartphone that you’re provided with, allowing you to use it as a personal hotspot (if you’ve seen me in countries where my Feel At Home doesn’t work, it’s not pretty) and upload all your snaps in real time. The Kiehls toiletries and major #bathgoals came up a close second and third though, followed by the quirky decor and comfy, loft-style sleeping quarters. You can see where my priorities lie!
