As much as I love ticking off new destinations on my list, sometimes it’s nice to revisit places with more mature eyes. Take my last visit to Copenhagen for example, even though I spent five whole days in the city, I kept getting completely lost due to the lack of 3G and managed to miss out an entire area of the capital. Don’t even get me started on my lack of cycling prowess. Fast forward four years and it seems like everyone on my Instagram feed has been enjoying the colourful canals and open sandwiches. That’s the thing about social media, it makes it seem like certain destinations are ‘trending’ and Lucy, Olivia, Carrie, Dunya and I were slightly overwhelmed by our list of approximately 267 recommendations. What do you do when there’s five brunch places you want to try in the same street, the shops are closing in an hour and the three-way bridge you’re walking on decides to lift and leaves you stranded on the wrong side of the water?
It’s a good thing that I’m a (slightly) more chilled out Kristabel these days. With the AC Bella Sky as our base, we spent our first afternoon exploring the colourful canals of Christianshavn and slowly making our way towards Paper Island for lunch. I’d definitely recommend a street food kind of setup if you’re travelling in a large group that has different dietary requirements, though be prepared for a bit of FOMO. I eventually went for the chicken and duck-fat fries combo at Copper & Wheat and may have had to unzip this skirt a little…
Expect a bumper guide and even more colourful Copenhagen snaps very soon!
A massive thanks to AC Bella Sky for letting me experience Copenhagen with my girlies!
