I’m probably the last person who should be looking at clothes. Yet again the shelves in my wardrobe have broken due to the sheer weight of knitwear and there’s too many pairs of shoes I just look at. Oh dear. It’s also that awkward inbetweeny point where the thought of anything off the shoulder seems a bit ridiculous, but I still feel like what I have already isn’t quite right.
There’s nothing like putting an inspiration post together to kickstart your imagination. I’ve tortured myself by looking at a variety of price points but I’m hoping that seeing things like this Sandro beaut will inspire me to make the most of what I already have. Printed dresses and metallics are always a good idea.
If I do end up buying things, I want to have a bit of a plan. Step one, go through the wardrobe and pull out anything that doesn’t fit, looks weird or doesn’t bring Marie Kondo-style joy. Step two, make sure that the wardrobe can actually close. Step three, figure out the SS17 trends you want to align yourself with and make sure that you can style items in multiple ways. Here’s what I’m thinking…
ALL THE THINGS
Mood: A little bit Gucci, a little bit Advanced style grandma. Think colour-blocking, flirty ruffles, embroidery and metallics.
Collage: @popsqueek, 1. & Other Stories jumper, 2. Tatty Devine necklace, 3. Next heels, 4. Goldenponies bag, 5. MiH skirt, 6. Office boots, 7. Oasis jumper, 8. Russell & Bromley trainers, 9. Oasis dress, 10. Boden bag, 11. & Other Stories boots, @meganellaby
Mood: Sporty stuff that doesn’t make you look like a Rihanna wannabe. There’s denim in every kind of way, asymmetric details and proportion-mixing.
Collage: 1. Monki trousers, 2. Warehouse shirtdress, 3. Whistles earrings, 4. Topshop boots, 5. & Other Stories bag (try instore), 6. Warehouse jumpsuit, @daniellevanier, 7. COS sweatshirt, 8. J.Crew jumpsuit, 9. & Other Stories ring, 10. Whistles skirt, 11. New Balance trainers
So what’s the plan for the month ahead? A big old wardrobe clearout, since #TheBloggersMarket will soon be coming up and I keep forgetting what I already have. I’ll probably keep layering polonecks underneath jumpsuits/pinafores and pop a light bomber jacket over my dresses to stay nice and toasty. I’ll try and post more everyday looks on the ‘gram!
