Following on from Fridays wishlist, today’s post is a bit of an attempt to wear more of my wardrobe. I like to think that I’ve been making more sensible shopping decisions recently (guess who hasn’t bought anything from ASOS in three months) and part of it comes down to being extremely picky. I don’t feel comfortable in every trend, shape and colour, which is fine and probably saves me an awful lot of money in the long run.
Every so often when I feel a bit stuck, I like to challenge myself to style something I haven’t worn in a while. It’s a bonus when you end up falling in love with items all over again and this Ganni coat is a great example. Does anyone else like to mull over purchases for ages? I first spotted this fluffy number at a press day in early 2014, borrowed a sample for Fashion Week and then stalked until it eventually went in the sale over a year later. I think that’s probably a record? I’m not saying that every purchase needs to be deliberated for sixteen months, but there’s definitely something in forming attachments, so they still feel ‘right’ regardless of current trends.
If you’re stuck for a London location, then you can’t go wrong with Peggy Porschen’s Parlour (plus the salted caramel cake is pretty epic). I’ve included some location-hunting tips in my video this week plus my Lightroom editing process. Let me know what you think! I’m just paying it forward by sharing my knowledge, since the only reason I started using the program was because a photographer gave me a few quick tips during fashion week. You never know what those sorts of conversations might lead to, it’s made my editing process so much more streamlined and I’m determined to improve this year!

Such a well timed post, I think especially at this time of year. It just starts to feel like all the excitement is gone (post-Christmas still winter blues) and I get sick of my wardrobe. Good time to look at things creatively instead of shopping!

Ah thanks!
I always think if you mull something over and keep thinking about it, then you REALLY want it – possibly the best purchase you’ll make. I finally picked up a space print shirt from &OS after mulling it over and it selling out in my size, and then hunting it down to a far away store, but it was mine and I love love LOVE it.
