It’s Stationery Week people! I’ve come a long way from Bang On The Door lever arch files, gel pens and ink erasers. Thanks to social media, I seem to be discovering a new independent brand on a weekly basis and adding to my ridiculous notebook collection. My excuse is that I need plenty of options for future bullet journals.
Since there’s now a whole week to celebrate putting pen to paper, I thought I’d get flat-laying and share a selection of discoveries that aren’t Rifle Paper Co. (as much as I love them). Stationery is such a no brainer when it comes to gifts and I always try to stock up on a few nice cards in case of emergency birthdays.

Kartotek – How did I not discover this brand whilst I was in Copenhagen? Never mind. If you’re looking for perfectly formed stationery with that Scandinavian simplicity, then you’ll love Kartotek. They produce an array of weekly/monthly planners if you’re a bit of a diary commitment-phobe plus some seriously cute envelope cards where you can pop in a small gift.
Ola – Here’s another one for all the geometry-loving, graphic design buffs. Ola’s patterns are inspired by the likes of Anni Albers and everything is made in small quantities by local manufacturers. Their list of stockists will also lead you to some interesting independent shops.
Bonita Ivie – I discovered Bonita’s African-inspired collection through her sister Benjamina and I hope there are exciting things to come. She’s a self-taught graphic designer and there’s plenty of options if you love a bit of bold colour contrast.
All The Ways To Say – As soon as I spotted this French brand on Lizzie’s Instagram Story, I knew I had to investigate further. Their designs are whimsical, beautifully made in Aix-en-Provence and I think their 2018 calendar will be a good ‘un. Smug are their only London-based stockist so head on down.
Red Cap Cards – This brand is great if you want to discover new artists and illustrators, as they collaborate exclusively with those that offer something a little different. I picked up one of the cards from the Kate Pugsley range and ended up getting seriously lost in her Instagram feed.
Notebook – Ola, bikini card – All The Ways To Say, to do notepad – Kartotek, notebook – Bonita Ivie, card – Ola, scissors – Not Another Bill, copper tape – Hopscotch, notebook – via Geofleur’s Plant Post Club, ‘Hello’ card – Kate Pugsley, ‘Chill Time’ card – All The Ways To Say
