Don’t you just love checking the weather app and seeing uninterrupted sunshine? OK my iPhone may be trolling me and doing that annoying thing when it completely switches the day before, but I’m staying optimistic. I love the impact of Summer on my mindset and what it does to my wardrobe, but sometimes it’s tricky to find creative ways to stay cool.
As part of my ongoing collaboration with CollectPlus, I thought I’d share a few canny updates so that I can sort my outfit out within ten minutes every morning. If you’re not aware, it’s a handy delivery service that means you can collect or return your online shopping orders from over 6000 locations across the UK. Ideal if you’re busy making the most of all that sunshine and don’t want to wait in for the postman.
The Pretty But Practical Dress
If I ever need to be a little bit smarter, then my default option is a midi dress and Mango has been killing it this season. They’re been great for Reformation-esque styles without the massive price tag, plus they tend to use the same print across multiple different shapes (a girl’s gotta have her options). What I like the most about this one are the practical little details, like pockets that are large enough for an iPhone and a cut-out that doesn’t reveal too much.
The Outfit That Ticks Multiple Trend Boxes
I always aim to have a selection of tops I can wear with shorts, though having a shorter torso means that I can sometimes look like I’m only half dressed. Oh dear. My trick is to look for items that are slightly cropped but not so much that it bares the tum. I didn’t expect to find this gem in the New Look petite department but it’s actually a more improved version of things I’ve been eyeing up. The gingham makes it pretty and the asymmetric ruffle adds an unexpected edge.
In the voice of Chandler from Friends, could I be any more SS17? I’m also wearing the espadrille of the moment by Spanish brand Castaner, beloved by bloggers everywhere and surprisingly comfortable. They’re only stocked in a few places and it’s good to know that the only way to get free delivery is via CollectPlus at Very Exclusive (I also managed to get a cheeky 20% off). Definitely more of an investment but they should last for plenty of future summers.
The Tea Dress You Can Just Throw On Without Thinking
Can you believe that this is my first ever tea dress? I’ve tried on a fair few over the years, but always found that they were annoyingly cut or had prints that were slightly too twee. The moral of the story is to persevere and wait for the right kind to come along. This ASOS style has helped me finally embrace the aesthetic and it really stands out with a red tropical print.
The fit situation is also better as it buttons up at the front and gently flares out into a swishy fit and flare shape. The only thing is that it’s prone to revealing everything when there’s a gust of wind, so I always wear it with cycling shorts underneath. You may have spotted some dodgy outtakes over on my Instagram Stories…
