With Häagen Dazs
What’s the one thing I have in common with Kate Middleton? I love tennis. My obsession probably started when children’s tv was my thing and Wimbledon used to mess up the schedule. I ended up having that ‘If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em’ kind of attitude after a while and started following the careers of certain players. Fun fact, Serena Williams is the only reason why I still have Snapchat.
For some reason I haven’t managed to make it to SW19 yet, but thanks to Häagen Dazs, I got to experience the next best thing. They’re the official ice-cream of the Championships and WTA, so last week they threw a shindig at the beautiful Kensington Roof Gardens. It’s a stunning space, there’s a garden based on the Alhambra in Spain and it doesn’t quite feel like London (FYI it’s free to visit, provided there’s no events on). I’d been saving this dress to wear for a special occasion and it fit in perfectly with the palm trees, roses and vines (though I may have ruined the graceful illusion by scoffing a few pork buns).
Now onto dessert! In honour of the Championships, Häagen Dazs have a new Strawberries and Cream ice cream bar, made with handpicked strawberries. Basically it’s an improvement on the classic pairing, involving sumptuous Belgian chocolate and the ice cream we all know and love. It’s a little bit of luxury to have, just in case you’re watching along at home and getting a bit too involved with every point. Häagen Dazs have also collaborated with tennis-experts Björn Borg for the packaging design, giving the bars a slight Scandi twist. This limited edition flavour will be available at Wimbledon (duh), Sainsbury’s and via Amazon Prime now until the end of July, so there’s plenty of time to get your fix.
Will you be glued to the tennis over the next few weeks? No doubt I’ll be watching any of Andy Murray’s matches from behind the sofa…
