Well hello there! Do I dare start this post with another statement on the passing of time? I’m really not ready to put double glazing film on my windows again. I know that some of you are all about the changing leaves and Pumpkin Spice lattes, but Autumn tends to be the season where I panic and look at my long-lost resolutions. It’s a bit of a reality check and since I’m a last minute kind of person, I end up making multiple lists and attempting to make a year’s worth of change in a short amount of time. This probably won’t end well.
I’m still feeling rather reflective and a lot of my recent reading looks at the blogosphere in an objective way. This Design Sponge piece is a good place to start, founder Grace wrote an in depth and informative look at the challenges of being a blogger in 2017. There’s everything from creating authentic sponsored content to the dangers of growing a site into something that feels ‘disconnected and confused.’ Fashionista also have a great series interviewing top influencers such as Leandra, Bryan Boy andSea of Shoes and it’ll really take you on a trip down memory lane.
Since I’ve been binge-watching Insecure and marvelling at the cinematography, this article on lighting darker skin tones was fascinating. I sometimes struggle with getting certain Instagram filters to work with my skin and always worry about how I may look in certain professional shoots. It’s something we all need to be aware of. Now all I need is for someone to help me create some Lightroom presets so I can glow like Issa.
