So this is happening, the blogging support group I mentioned has a date and central London location! I’m the kind of person who likes getting stuff done, which is funny because I’m also a procrastinator and eternal supporter of Beyonce gifs. Still, I observe all the Twitter chats and blogging discussions like a bit of a lurker and I can see how we’re all affected by the apps, media, societal standards of beauty, politics, the lot.
Let’s bring this back to blogging. OK it may not be live-saving in a typical sense but the being a part of the community has enriched my life in so many ways. We’re challenging mainstream media, creating conversations and deciding not to be ignored. I know that some of us are finding it tough, so I wanted to organise an old-school meetup to bring our conversations offline and decide what we’re going to do about it all.
Think of this initial afternoon like hanging out at your mates house. We can each bring a snack or bottle of some kind and settle down for a few hours of chats, sharing worries and making resolutions. I have no budget for this event (it’s a co-working space with no food/drink on sale) and the deal is that we have to make sure we leave the space as we found it.
I’ve created a Facebook event so that I can reach you all easily and will keep updating with reminders until the big day! Don’t worry if you’re not able to make this one, I’m hoping this can be a ‘thing’ (with plenty more Mean Girls references, obvs). Let me know if you can make it!
